Hard to program July 13, 2010 MF (Palo Alto, CA) The timer has good features and works, once you manage to get it programmed correctly. It is hard to program and hard to verify that it is programmed correctly once you have done it. Although I have programmed other Intermatic astronomical timers (the wall switches) it took me four tries (i.e. 4 days) to get it right. A combination of poor instructions and a very poor interface make it tough to program.
Great timer, nice interface, no problems! July 2, 2010 Darnell Wilson (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think this timer is great. The dial that is used to do a lot of the settings is so much nicer than clunky buttons everywhere. It has an impressive list of features for adding randomness into the schedule, as well as features based on sunrise/sunset (and pretty accurate as you enter your location). Options for changing when daylight savings happens, so it's pretty future-proofed.
The batteries it uses for backup aren't rechargeable, but they are easy to replace. I like that the display goes off when it's not in use. I tried another Woods timer with rechargeable batteries and it broke in one day, rendering the entire unit useless, so I prefer the user-replaceable setup.
The unit is solid, the display is nice and large, and it's been keeping perfect time (something analog timers DO NOT in my house), so I'd gladly buy another when the time comes. Build quality and quality control seem good for this one..
Set it and forget it June 26, 2010 David K. Broadwater (New castle,DE) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Little tricky on the set up, but I already own two wall units for outside lights, so it was not hard to figure out. Works great, so I bought a second one.
Socket Orientation May Be A Problem June 24, 2010 Alani (Parsippany, NJ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It's a very good timer and has an excellent feature set.
If you look at the item picture you can see the socket orientation on the side of the device. Take a look at the plug on the device you want to control and how the cord exits from it.
If the device you are plugging in has a cord that extends out of the bottom of the plug, the cord has to be bent through 90 degrees when the timer is plugged directly into a wall socket and there may not be enough room for it.
Intermatic timer DT620CL June 8, 2010 C. Zimmerman 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This timer does it all. It tracks the time zone the user is in, the day of the month, etc. It can calculate the sunrise and sunset accordingly so you do not have to change your program as the days get longer and shorter. It has a resonable price. It has battery backup so a power outage will not erase your program. A very impressive product.
